Address more than one licensing change at once
Create multiple rules for each workflow to make multiple license changes for an application. Each application only has one workflow, but the workflow can have multiple rules. Rules can address different types of users and different types of usage.
As an example, AcmeCo has two tiers of licenses for an app we’ll call CloudApp (Premium and Basic). Since the Marketing team relies heavily on this app, we’ll be conservative about deprovisioning those team members. However, we want to deprovision anyone in the rest of the organization who hasn’t used the app.
Here’s what the rules might look like.
- Rule #1 - For anyone on a Basic license, we’ll deprovision those team members who haven’t used the app in 60 days.
- Rule #2 - For members of the Marketing team who have a Premium license, we’ll downgrade those team members who haven’t used the app in 90 days to a Basic license.
- Rule #3 - For anyone in the rest of the organization on a Premium license, we’ll deprovision those team members who haven’t used the app in 90 days.
This order ensures that the Marketing team gets downgraded while the rest of the organization gets deprovisioned.
Review the Recommendation page for ideas on which rules to create. Remember that the order of rules matters because a user is checked against each rule in order, and subsequent rules are ignored for that user.
