FAQ Updates Questions
Why is usage data missing for a discovered application?
Applications discovered through certain connectors often provide "point-in-time" metadata rather than continuous activity logs. Unless an application is integrated with a Single Sign-On (SSO) provider to track active authentication sessions, usage data may be limited or unavailable.
The type of data you see depends entirely on the Discovery Method:
- Google Social Login: Captures the initial authentication event (the first time a user logs in), but does not track subsequent sessions.
- Spend Files: Provides the dates an application was expensed by a user, which does not necessarily reflect active usage.
- MDM (Mobile Device Management): Tracks the date an application was installed on a user’s local device.
- CASB (Cloud Access Security Broker): Records when a user reaches a specific network endpoint associated with the application.
