This article introduces the Suppliers workflow, which provides information about the vendors and resellers where your organization purchased its SaaS apps.
____________
Productiv insights provide visibility into how to right-size and optimize a company's spend on SaaS software. The Suppliers workflow provides a window into how your organization's contract dollars are spent. This helps you become aware of the range of Resellers your company does business with, and assess how you might better optimize contract rates by changing the way you do business.
The Suppliers workflow
The Suppliers workflow provides a list of all managed apps at your site, sorted by either vendor or reseller. For our purposes:
- a vendor is a company that retails its product direct to consumers.
- a reseller is a company that buys products in bulk from many vendors, and then bundles and sells those products to consumers.
Note that in real life, it's possible for a vendor to be both a vendor and a (re)seller. This means that, depending on how your procurement staff is organized, different departments might buy from different suppliers. As a result, though it may look like you have the same apps throughout the organization, your true situation might look something like this:

You can avoid (or ameliorate) a situation like this by using the Suppliers workflow to learn the origin of all your company's apps, and possibly consolidating some purchases to gain better pricing -- and less redundancy of effort.
Productiv mines your uploaded contract data and/or product-related expenses to identify:
- how many individual suppliers have sold apps to your organization (and how many apps are accounted for among those suppliers),
- what the app contract annual spend is for all contracts, and
- what the supplier spend is for the past 12 months, including mapped spend, unmapped spend, and spend for unknown suppliers.
We also break down statistics for each individual supplier, showing how many apps are accounted for in the summary figures -- or, if the supplier is a reseller, how many apps and vendors are accounted for.
