Workflow participants are now only added to Slack and Teams channels when their workflow step is being executed.
- Users are only added to the Slack or Teams channels automatically when they are assigned a task, become a watcher, or are mentioned in the comments
- Anyone can still add users to the Slack or Teams channel through those respective apps
- For Renewal workflows, app contacts and all participants are no longer added to the Slack channel after the Create Renewal Proposal step is completed
- For Purchase workflows, all participants are no longer added to the Slack channel after the workflow begins
Why?
- Previous behavior resulted in too many notifications and channels for participants, making them more likely to be ignored and resulted in notification fatigue.
- Previous behavior could add users to the channel who’s step may never be reached, and many times those users don’t need to be involved in the workflow at all (i.e. the security team if you are not renewing an application, your CFO if spend is less than a certain threshold, etc.)
