Users are now only include users in the slack channel and other notifications if they have been added as watchers to the workflow. Watchers can now be dynamically added by the workflow creator at the time of workflow creation. When a user gets assigned a step in the workflow they are now automatically added as a watcher for the workflow run. With these changes, you will have precise control over who is included in notifications for workflows (slack channels and email) and when users are included in these notifications.
Email notification settings:
There are now 3 options available
- Off - Send email notification to no one for these actions
- Send to assigned user only - Only the user assigned the task will get a notification on this action
- Send to assigned user and watchers - The assigned user and any watchers on the workflow will get the notification on this action
Dynamic watchers
When configuring watchers for a step, you can now not only add specific users as watchers, but also dynamic users such as App Contacts and Requestor’s Manager. You can now also add entire pre-defined groups of users as watchers on a given step.
Automated watcher additions
When a user gets assigned a step in the workflow they are now added as a watcher for the workflow run. A requestor is also automatically added as a watcher for the workflow run as soon they submit the request. This change will keep users who participated in the workflow in the loop with notifications, but still allow these individual users to opt out of the notifications configured by admin, by simply removing themselves as a watcher.
