Set up secure access to enable user roles and permissions
Productiv supports two authentication methods: single sign-on and username/password.
Your account defaults to username/password access, which provides all permissions to all Productiv users.
We strongly recommend using single sign-on (SSO) access for more secure authentication. When you place Productiv behind single sign-on (SSO) access, you’ll gain the ability to set user roles and permissions within Productiv.
Productiv supports the most popular single sign-on providers, including:
- Azure Active Directory
- Duo Security
- G Suite SSO
- Idaptive
- Keycloak
- Okta
- OneLogin
- PingOne
You’ll need administrator permissions to your SSO tool for setting up SSO with Productiv. If you do not have administrator permissions, you can invite a teammate who does to complete this task. As the inviter, you’ll receive a notification when the single sign-on setup task is complete.
To begin the process:
- Select the Settings icon in the left navigation list.
- Select the Organization tab.
- Scroll down to Single sign-on access and select Start SSO setup.

NOTE: Once SSO has been set up, this section indicates that SSO has been enabled for your organization.
To set up single sign-on access, complete the following steps:
- Select your organization’s SSO provider from the drop down list.
- Select Setup Guide to access specific requirements and instructions for your selected SSO provider.
- Enter the SSO details.
- Test the sign-in.
- Select Complete setup.
Once you’ve enabled SSO, users will no longer be able to sign in with their previously established username and password combination. They will be required to sign in with SSO.
