Understand how current usage informs recommendations

The Current usage column on the Recommendation page shows the engagement data for how users in your organization have used the application in the selected time frame.

The dynamic chart displays detailed information for each segment when hovering over it.

Click the bar segment to view the list of users and recommended provisioning action included in that segment.

The chart includes the following elements:

• Tiers - Depending on the application and your organization's contract, you may see one or more tiers, possibly with recommendations for downgrading or upgrading some users' licenses based on their usage. For consumption-based contracts (like DocuSign contracts based on number of envelopes sent), the consumption and estimated consumption are shown.
• Users/usage - Categories of users or usage are based on the application and the type of license.
• Contract license limit or license/pricing tiers - Your organization's current contract license limit or license/pricing tiers are shown as a line in relation to your users.

The bar chart displays each type of usage for the selected application. You may not see all categories of usage.

• Ignored - Users who have been created during the selected time frame (“newly provisioned”), as well as those users who have been added to the exempt list, are excluded from recommendation actions.
• Inactive - Users who have not used the application during the selected time frame are recommended for deprovisioning.
• Extra usage - Users who used features above their current license tier are recommended for upgrading to higher tier provisioning.
• Lower usage - Users who have not used higher-tier features in the application according to the application usage term are recommended for downgrading to the lower tier provisioning.
• Engaged - Users who have used the application according to the application usage terms are recommended to keep their current provisioning.
• Used - For consumption based contracts, you’ll see the number of items used.
• Estimated Usage - Term so far - For consumption-based contracts, Productiv estimates your usage in the current term (for projecting your usage to the end of the contract term) to make recommendations for renewal.

For activity-based contracts, both active and inactive users are further split into categories designating whether or not they are billed.

The table below the chart summarizes all categories for each license tier.
